Most questions have answers here. If yours doesn't, we read every email — usually within a few business days.

About the app

  • Who is Hayaa for?

Hayaa is for Muslim adults — 18 and older — working to overcome compulsive pornography and masturbation habits. It is built equally for Muslim women and Muslim men, and is inclusive of users from both Sunni and Shia traditions, as well as users who prefer not to identify.

  • How does the app actually help?

Hayaa combines verified Islamic content with evidence-based habit-change tools. You will use streak tracking, an SOS routine for acute urges, journaling, daily reminders, an AI companion (Rafiq / Rafiqa), and — on the Premium tier — accountability partners and a moderated community. The work is yours to do. The app is structured to help.

  • Is the app for Sunnis or Shias?

Both. Content is filtered based on your selection during onboarding — Sunni, Shia, or prefer not to say — and the community is segmented by sect so the space stays comfortable. We draw on widely accepted sources from both traditions with clear attribution.

Privacy and discretion

  • How private is the app really?

Accounts are anonymous — you choose any display name. We collect no browsing data, ever. Your journal entries and AI conversations are visible only to you. We do not sell or share personal information. The app's name on your home screen, your subscription receipts, and notification banners is neutral. See the full Privacy Policy for line-by-line detail.

  • Can my accountability partner see my journal or AI conversations?

No. Partners can see only your display name, current streak, and last check-in date. They cannot see your real name, your email, your journal entries, or any of your conversations with Rafiq / Rafiqa.

Subscriptions and billing

  • How does billing work?

Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We never see your payment card or bank details. To cancel, change, or request a refund, go to your phone's subscription settings (App Store on iOS, Play Store on Android). We are not able to cancel or refund on your behalf.

  • Is there a free trial?

Yes, for new users. Trial length is shown in the app when you start. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription converts to a paid plan automatically — this is a requirement of the Apple and Google billing systems.

Technical and account

  • How do I delete my account?

If you still have the app installed: open it and go to Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. If you have lost device access or uninstalled the app: visit the Account Deletion page on this site and submit the form there.

  • I lost my phone and can't sign in. What do I do?

Email us at support@hayaa.io from the address you used to register, and we'll help you regain access. We'll never ask for your password.

Religious and sect questions

  • Can Hayaa tell me if something is haram?

No. Hayaa is not a fatwa source, and the AI companion (Rafiq / Rafiqa) is explicitly not a scholar. Religious rulings should come from a qualified local scholar in your tradition. The app can help you reflect, but cannot rule on your behalf.

  • How accurate is the AI companion?

The AI retrieves from verified Islamic content and is given careful instructions about its limits. It can still occasionally produce inaccurate, incomplete, or contextually wrong output — no AI is perfect. Treat it as a knowledgeable companion, not as scholarship. Where accuracy matters, consult your scholar.
